Wolves shutout Saints with complete team effort

November 22, 2014 – Wolves vs. Saints (Boxscore)

The Wolves played a complete team game and shutout the Saints 5 – 0, avenging an opening day 7 – 2 loss to the same team.

In the first period, it was a tight battle with both teams trading chances to score. The Wolves would end up scoring first on a goal from Saverio Romano at 10:15 for the 1 – 0 lead.

In the second period, the Wolves would pick up their game and score 2 goals both by Saverio Romano for the 3 – 0 lead. They would keep the 3 goal lead with solid defensive play from Krista Bath, Matthew Costa, and Gabe.

In the third period, the Wolves would continue their offensive output with another two goals from Saverio Romano, with the help from forwards Matt Vocino, James Lawton, and newly acquired Mitchell Stark. The Saints led by Brandy Edwards had some great chances, but were unable to capitalize. The Wolves goalie Torrance Ho was sharp in net for his first shutout of the season.

New look Kings gets first win of season

November 22, 2014 – Kings vs. Bulldogs (Boxscore)

The new look Kings won their first game of the season 6 – 2, breaking the Bulldogs winning streak.

In the first period, Jerry Mariano got the Bulldogs off to an early lead, assisted by Christine Pacheco who worked hard in front of the Kings net. However Isaac would answer for the Kings two minutes later to tie the game at one goal a piece. The goal was assisted by newly acquired David Donnelly who they got in a trade.

In the second period, the Kings started taking control of the game scoring two goals to take a 3 – 1 lead. David Donnelly would score his first goal as a king, and also assist on Sharmin Alam's goal.

In the third period, the Kings want continue their dominance with three more goals. Two were scored by Sharmin Alam assisted by Isaac, and David Donnelly would add one more. Jerry Mariano would score another for the Bulldogs assisted by Meghan Hines, but it would be too little too late.

Bulldogs hold off Lake Raiders to keep streak alive



November 15, 2014 – Bulldogs vs. Lake Raiders (Boxscore)

In their first meeting of the season, the unbeaten Bulldogs look to keep the streak alive verses the Lake Raiders. Action stared 2:38 in as Meghan Hines (unassisted) drove the net and scored on her own rebound to open the scoring. 9:15 saw Meghan Hines (unassisted) add another for the 2-0 Bulldogs lead. With just over left in the first Jeremy Schofield (Sean Celsie) cut the lead in half at 13:58.

The second again saw the Bulldogs strike early on a Meghan Hines (unassisted) attempted wrap around that trickled in after the Lake Raiders net minder made the initial save at 2:19 for the Hat trick. 5:50 saw the Lake Raiders begin the push back on a Jeremy Schofield solo effort, followed by another Jeremy Schofield (unassisted) power play marker at 12:11 for a 3-3 tie. However with under a minute remaining in the second, Lorne Donnelly connected on a Jerry Mariano pass to take a 4-3 Bulldogs lead into the third period.

The third frame saw the Bulldogs build on their lead on a Jerry Mariano (Scott Allen) at 1:01. The Lake Raiders made things interesting on Jeremy Schofield's (unassisted) fourth goal at 11:15 to bring the Lake Raiders within one. Then at 12:11 a Coach Ray Landry line change payed off for the Bulldogs on a Christine Pacheco (unassisted) shorthanded goal, her career first for a Bulldogs 6-4 win!

Mustangs fall short in comeback

November 15, 2014 – Saints vs. Mustangs (Boxscore)


The Saints led by Brandy Edwards took to the floor against the Mustangs on Saturday.

Brandy opened the scoring at 11 minutes of the first period and would add a second goal 1 minute later to take a 2-0 lead. 

The second period was evenly matched with Nicole Neeson having a few breakaways for the Mustangs which would just fall short of their mark.  Brandy would follow up with a few shots of her own just barely missing the net.

The third period opened up with Mustangs Mike Iacovone scoring at 1:27 of the period.  Brandy would then answer back with another goal of her own before the Mustangs added 2 more goals before falling short of a comeback to the Saints who scored 2 more times in the third.

Wolves get by a scrappy Kings team

November 15, 2014 – Wolves vs. Kings (Boxscore)

In a game where both teams were hungry for a win, the Wolves would come out with a 6 – 4 score against the Kings.

In the first period, the Wolves came out taking charge with tons of traffic in front of the Kings net but they would weather the storm. Until the eight minute mark where Matt Vocino would direct the Saverio Romano shot for his first goal of the season for the 1 – 0 Wolves lead. They would continue their offensive outburst with three goals from Saverio Romano including one on the power-play, and an assist from Gabe for the 4 – 0 lead after one period.

In the second period, it would be a different story for the Kings who answered with three goals of their own to cut the lead to 4 – 3. Two were scored by substitute player David Donnelly, and one from rookie Elyas Abdullah who scored his first career TPWHL goal when he banked a shot off the back of the Wolves goalie Torrance Ho and into the net. Isaac would add an assist on one of the goals.

In the third period, it would be end to end action with the Wolves Saverio Romano scoring to extend the lead to 5 – 3 for his team at 5:13. However David Donnelly would once again help the Kings pull within one five minutes later, roofing a shot under the crossbar for an exciting ending. The Wolves would eventually score a goal from Saverio Romano assisted by Matt Vocino late in the game to seal the victory.

Mustangs gives Bulldogs a scare


November 8, 2014 – Bulldogs vs. Mustangs (Boxscore)


The Mustangs took to the floor on Saturday hoping to hand the Bulldogs their first loss of the season.

The Mustangs opened the scoring just 28 seconds into the first period with a quick goal from Mike Iacavone. They would then add to their lead at about the 9 minute mark with another goal from Mike assisted by Sam Palmiere for Sam’s first point of the season.

David Donnelly opened the scoring for the Bulldogs in the second period with an assist from Jerry Mariano. Jerry Mariano would add two more for the Bulldogs, both assisted by David Donnelly.

Jerry Mariano and Meghan Hines added to the scoring for the Bulldogs in the third period with David Donnelly assisting on  Jerry’s goal. The Mustangs played hard with a solid effort to make a comeback only to fall short 5-2 to the still undefeated Bulldogs due to the awesome goalkeeping from Mohit Sharma.

Lake Raiders Win a back-and-forth Game

November 8, 2014 – Lake Raiders vs. Wolves (Boxscore)

In a game with tons of momentum changes, the Lake Raiders would come out with the 8 – 5 victory.

In the first period, the Wolves would get off to a good start in the first 10 minutes with two goals from Saverio Romano for the 2 – 0 lead. However the Lake Raiders would battle back late with two great goals from Jeremy, whose shots just beat the goalie Torrance Ho under the chin and another off the post and in to tie the game at two.

In the second period, the Wolvcs would get back their two-goal lead with two more goals from Saverio Romano, both assisted by Matt  to take a 4 – 2 lead.

In the third period, the Lake Raiders would score 2 goals with one on a power-play and another to tie the game at four. Both scored by Jeremy and one assist from Sean. But that would be short-lived as Saverio Romano would give the Wolves a 5 – 4 lead, assisted by Matt. However the Lake Raiders would score 4 unanswered goals to win the game including Sean's first goal of the season and 3 more from Jeremy.

Dwayne Hunter was a substitute goalie for the Lake Raiders.

Kings come back falls short in Saints Win

November 8, 2014 – Saints vs. Kings (Boxscore)

In a close game, the Kings nearly comes back in a 3 – 2 loss to the Saints.

In the first, Braden Martz would score a lone goal for the Saints to lead 1 – 0 on his first goal of the season.

In the second, Brandy would help the Saints extend the lead to 3 – 0 with two goals, assisted by Matthew Cockburn and Braden Martz.

In the third, there was no quit in the Kings where they would start a comeback at 7:49 on a goal from Sharmin Alam, who was making her season debut. They would add another to make the game 3 – 2 at 12:10 on a tip in goal from Bill Rankin, assisted by Sharmin Alam. But that would be as close that they would get on a great effort.

Goalies Leo Xu and Tracey Taylor was solid in net as always.

Bulldogs get their revenge in finals rematch

November 1, 2014 – Bulldogs vs. Wolves (Boxscore)

In a game featuring a finals rematch, the Bulldogs would exact some revenge in a wild 7 – 4 win over the Wolves.

In the first period, the Wolves got off to a good start scoring on the power play to lead 1 – 0 on a goal from Saverio Romano, assisted by Matt. However the Bulldogs would take over from there scoring four unanswered goals to take a commanding 4 – 1 lead. On the tying goal David Donnelly scored from a great passing play from Jerry Mariano in front of the Wolves, and later took the lead on the shot that deflected off Wolves player Matt. The Bulldogs would add two more goals from David Donnelly and Jerry Mariano.

In the second period, Saverio Romano pulled the Wolves within two but Jerry Mariano would restore the three-goal lead once again at 5 – 2. The Wolves would battle back with two goals from Saverio Romano to make things interesting in a 5 – 4 game going to the 3rd.

In the third period, both teams would battle hard defensively for 12 straight minutes without a goal. Until Jerry Mariano scored twice in 38 seconds to secure the victory for the Bulldogs.

Mustangs edges Kings in a battle of winless teams

November 1, 2014 – Mustangs vs. Kings (Boxscore)

In a game between two winless teams, the Mustangs would edge the Kings 2 – 1 in a close battle.

In the first period, the Kings would open the scoring on the goal from substitute player David Donnelly to lead 1 – 0. On the goal David Donnelly was left open in front of the Mustangs net.

In the second period, Mike Iacovone would help the Mustangs tie the game at 1 – 1, assisted by Nicole Neeson at 12:03.

In the third period, with the game still tied the Mustangs Nicole Neeson would give her team their first lead and the eventual game-winning goal at 5:03. She would nearly score another goal but was turned aside from an amazing save by Kings goalie Leo Xu.

The Mustangs Brad Gordon was solid in net in his first game of the season.
